AI Survey: Only 3% of U.S. Workers Report Job Loss to AI Since 2023
NewsData.io · United States · Aug 30, 2026
A YouGov survey of 1,250 U.S. workers commissioned by a Holy Cross sociologist found that just 3% reported losing a job due to AI since 2023, while 6% said they landed an AI-enabled role that didn't previously exist. Roughly 9% credited AI with a promotion or career advancement. The findings suggest AI has not yet produced widespread labor market disruption, though the researcher notes that agentic AI and a shrinking workforce could change the picture. For staffing agencies, the data offers a near-term signal that AI displacement fears have outpaced actual placement volume impact — though monitoring skill-based demand shifts remains important.
