Managers Say They're Not Ready to Lead AI-Fluent Workforces, Indeed Research Finds
HR Dive · United States · Jul 28, 2026
A new Indeed/YouGov survey found that 43% of managers feel poorly equipped or not equipped at all to lead AI-skilled employees, even as employer expectations for AI fluency run two to three times ahead of worker comfort levels. Meanwhile, 52% of workers say they aren't receiving the AI training they need, and 31% of employers expect AI fluency to be required for nearly every role within two years. The findings signal a growing leadership and skills gap that staffing firms should note when assessing client readiness and candidate positioning around AI capabilities. Supporting data from Aon's 2026 Human Capital Trends Study reinforces that skills gaps are a top workforce concern over the next decade.
