Gen Z Is Using TikTok to Find Jobs — and It's Outpacing LinkedIn

TikTok has overtaken LinkedIn as the top job search platform among Gen Z, with 22.1% using it versus 20.8% on LinkedIn, according to Zety's 2025 Gen Z Career Trends Report. Nearly half of Gen Z workers report landing a job or internship via TikTok, as frustration with AI-filtered applicant tracking systems drives candidates toward social-first strategies. The trend extends beyond Gen Z — 73% of millennials say they found their last job through social media — and 91% of U.S. companies now use social platforms in hiring, with 82% actively sourcing passive candidates there. For staffing firms, this signals a meaningful shift in where candidates are reachable and how sourcing strategies may need to evolve.
