AI Interviews Frustrate Biopharma Candidates and Hurt Employer Perception, Recruiters Warn
NewsData.io · United States · Sep 24, 2026
A BioSpace report exploring AI-led interviews in biopharma finds that while AI screening tools are widely used behind the scenes — 32.1% of employers use AI for resume screening and 16.1% for candidate interviews per iHire — fully AI-driven interviews are generating significant candidate backlash. A Greenhouse report found 34% of candidates came away with a more negative view of the employer after an AI interview, and 38% withdrew from a hiring process because it included one. Recruiting experts caution that transparency, human follow-up, and reserving AI for lower-level screening — rather than senior or specialized roles — are critical to avoiding reputational damage.
