AI Interview Adoption Grows as Candidate Dropout and Misconduct Rates Rise
NewsData.io · United States · Oct 15, 2026
New data from Greenhouse's 2026 Candidate AI Interview Report shows 63% of nearly 3,000 active job seekers have faced an AI interview, up 13 points in six months, while 38% were ghosted after completing one. Nearly four in ten U.S. job seekers have withdrawn from processes involving AI interviews, citing lack of disclosure and distrust, according to CNBC-reported Greenhouse data. On the employer side, a UK Institute of Student Employers survey found 92% of major employers encountered suspected AI misconduct in recruitment, up from 85% the prior year. Staffing firms and recruiters face mounting pressure to balance automation with transparency, as candidate dropout rates and trust deficits threaten pipeline quality.
