Software Developer Job Postings Up 15% Despite AI Coding Surge
NewsData.io · United States · Oct 11, 2026
U.S. software development job postings rose nearly 15% since February 2025, even as overall job postings fell 7%, according to Indeed Hiring Lab data. The rebound is heavily skewed toward senior roles, which accounted for 71% of the May 2025–May 2026 increase, and AI-titled positions, which drove 37% of gains. Entry-level developers remain under pressure, with Stanford data showing employment for ages 22–25 fell nearly 20% from 2024. Recruiters sourcing software talent should focus pipelines on senior and AI-fluent candidates, as demand for junior developers continues to erode.
