West Suburban and Weiss Memorial Hospitals to Be Sold to Insight Health Systems
NewsData.io · United States · Sep 18, 2026
Insight Health Systems has reached a deal to acquire West Suburban Medical Center and Weiss Memorial Hospital in the Chicago area, ending a protracted legal dispute over the safety-net facilities. The acquisition comes with significant rebuilding challenges, including restoring state licenses, certifications, and — critically — rebuilding staff at both shuttered hospitals. Insight estimates at least four months before West Suburban can reopen, with Weiss requiring an even longer timeline. Insight's own financial struggles, including a nearly $30 million loss at its existing Chicago hospital in 2024, raise questions about the company's capacity to fund the turnaround.
