Wall Street Forecasts 70K–93K Jobs Added in September Report
NewsData.io · United States · Oct 1, 2026
Economists and strategists are projecting September nonfarm payroll growth of between 50,000 and 93,000 jobs, a slowdown from August's stronger-than-expected 162,000 gain. The ADP National Employment Report showed private payrolls rose 90,000 in September, with education, healthcare, and leisure and hospitality leading gains while financial activities and professional and business services declined. The Bureau of Labor Statistics will release the official September jobs report Friday, October 2 at 8:30 a.m. ET. Staffing firms should note that professional and business services — a category that includes temp and contract employment — saw declines, signaling potential softness in a core client segment.
