Trump Bars Microsoft, Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro from Green Card Program
TechCrunch · United States · Oct 8, 2026
The Trump administration is suspending Microsoft, Adobe, Capgemini, Cognizant, HCL, Infosys, Tata, and Wipro from the PERM labor certification program, accusing them of fraud. The Department of Labor will not accept new or pending permanent labor certification applications involving these companies. The action effectively halts green card sponsorship pathways for thousands of foreign workers at major IT employers. Staffing firms that place H-1B and PERM candidates at these companies — or compete with Indian IT outsourcers — face immediate disruption to visa-dependent talent pipelines.
