Trump Administration Launches 'Freedom Haulers' Veterans Trucking Hiring Campaign

The Trump administration has unveiled 'Freedom Haulers,' a hiring initiative aimed at accelerating CDL certification for U.S. veterans by expanding the Military Skills Test Waiver Program — extending the qualifying window for road test waivers from one year to two years of recent heavy military vehicle experience. Seven additional states have joined the Even Exchange Program, allowing veterans to convert military driving licenses directly to CDLs. The initiative comes alongside the revocation of CDLs from more than 28,000 immigrants, creating a deliberate pipeline shift intended to address trucking workforce needs with veteran talent.
