Tarrant County Employers Embed in Classrooms to Close Skilled-Worker Gap
NewsData.io · United States · Aug 24, 2026
Employers in Tarrant County—including the FAA, American Airlines, and local union operators—are moving beyond advisory roles to actively co-design curricula, supply equipment, and teach courses at TCC, UTA, and Azle ISD. A Fort Worth Chamber survey of 300+ employers found communication, critical thinking, and adaptability rated more important than technical credentials, while 47% of businesses cited hiring skilled workers as a top challenge. Programs such as TCC's planned air traffic control degree (targeting spring 2027 launch) and Azle ISD's commercial refrigeration certification—where graduates can start at $35–$40/hour—illustrate how employer-education partnerships are reshaping the local talent pipeline. For staffing firms, these developments signal a tightening skilled-trades and aviation labor market alongside a shift in how entry-level candidates are being sourced and credentialed.
