Sapporo USA to Lay Off 50 Workers as Stone Brewing Escondido Site Winds Down
NewsData.io · United States · Aug 25, 2026
Sapporo USA has filed WARN notices for 50 layoffs at its Stone Brewing-branded Escondido brewery and bistro, with cuts expected in mid-October and mid-November. The wind-down follows the sale of the Stone Brewing brand to Firestone Walker Brewing and Duvel Moortgat USA, a deal that excluded the Escondido location. Sapporo says it was unable to find a viable long-term solution for the site after the brand transition. Local staffing agencies serving the food-and-beverage and hospitality sectors in San Diego's North County should anticipate displaced workers entering the market this fall.
