PwC Survey: AI Skill Gaps Split Workforce Into Haves and Have-Nots
HR Dive · United States · Sep 30, 2026
A PwC survey of nearly 50,000 workers across 48 countries found that 56% fall into an "engine room" cohort with limited AI skills and low confidence in their ability to adapt, while just 14% are "front-runners" with strong AI capabilities. The report warns that the global workforce is diverging in speed and opportunity based on AI proficiency, with top-tier workers more likely to change jobs voluntarily and feel secure. For recruiters, this signals growing demand for AI-upskilled candidates and potential pressure from clients to source workers who can bridge the skills gap.
