Perstorp Polyols Closing Toledo Chemical Plant, Eliminating 80+ Jobs Through Mid-2027
NewsData.io · United States · Sep 16, 2026
Specialty chemical manufacturer Perstorp Polyols Inc. is permanently closing its Toledo, Ohio facility at 600 Matzinger Road, eliminating more than 80 positions across production, maintenance, management, and administrative roles. Layoffs will begin around November 2 and continue through July 1, 2027, per a WARN Act filing submitted to Ohio officials. The closure represents approximately 70% of Perstorp's entire U.S. workforce and is framed as part of a broader manufacturing consolidation effort by parent company Petronas Chemicals Group. The shutdown adds to a cluster of chemical-industry closures in the Ohio-Pennsylvania region, signaling continued contraction in industrial manufacturing that affects light-industrial staffing demand.
