Oracle Lays Off 546 Workers in Cloud Infrastructure Unit, Mostly Over Age 40

Oracle has cut at least 546 employees from its America Cloud Infrastructure organization, with the layoffs affecting software developers, program managers, engineers, and data center staff. A document reviewed by Business Insider shows most affected workers were over 40, with about 16% aged 60 or older — figures Oracle disclosed to comply with federal age discrimination laws. The cuts come as Oracle's broader workforce has already shrunk by roughly 21,000 in the prior fiscal year, even as cloud infrastructure revenue surged 121% year-over-year to $7.4 billion. Oracle described the reductions as part of a 'broader organizational change' but has not disclosed total layoff numbers for the current round.
