Oracle Layoffs 2026: Up to 3,000 India Employees Cut as Company Redirects to AI and Cloud

Oracle has launched a fresh round of layoffs targeting product engineering teams in India, with estimates of 1,000 to 3,000 employees affected in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The cuts follow earlier 2026 restructuring that reduced Oracle's global workforce by roughly 21,000 employees, bringing headcount to approximately 141,000. Restructuring costs have risen to an estimated USD 2.8 billion as Oracle pivots aggressively toward AI data centers and cloud infrastructure. The abrupt notification process — employees losing system access before receiving 6 AM termination emails — drew widespread attention on LinkedIn, particularly for long-tenured staff.
