North Korean IT Workers Using Proxies to Impersonate Candidates in Remote Job Interviews
NewsData.io · United States · Sep 17, 2026
New research from Silent Push reveals that North Korean IT worker operators are recruiting foreign nationals to serve as on-camera proxies during remote job interviews, while the actual North Korean workers remotely control the proxy's computer to answer questions and complete coding tasks. The scheme exploits the remote hiring process, turning unsuspecting job seekers into identity and payment intermediaries. This is a direct threat to staffing agencies and employers conducting remote technical interviews, as standard video screening provides no reliable protection against this tactic.
