Neocloud Lambda Secures $1B in Debt to Buy Nvidia AI Chips for Microsoft
TechCrunch · United States · Aug 28, 2026
Lambda, an AI cloud company, has raised $1 billion in private short-dated debt arranged by JP Morgan Chase to purchase Nvidia AI chips it will lease to Microsoft. The deal follows a $1 billion secured credit facility in May and a $926 million loan this week, as Lambda also reportedly pursues a $3 billion pre-IPO round. The moves reflect a broader trend: banks and tech companies have raised over $400 billion in AI-related debt globally in 2026 so far. For staffing firms, surging AI infrastructure investment signals continued strong hiring demand across AI, cloud, and data center roles.
