A regional career expo in Memphis drew hundreds of job seekers as Shelby County has experienced more job losses than any other county in Tennessee this year. The Greater Memphis Workforce Development Board tracked at least 2,500 layoffs over the past year, with major employers including Nike, WK Kellogg, GXO Logistics, IKEA, and Regional One Health among those cutting jobs. Fifty employers offered on-site interviews at the event, spanning banking, manufacturing, transportation, and healthcare. The concentration of layoffs and high turnout signal meaningful placement opportunity for staffing agencies operating in the Memphis metro.
