The International Accord for Health and Safety in the Textile and Garment Industry has hit a record 300 signatory brands and retailers, including H&M Group and Inditex, covering safety programs across 2,000 factories and 3.4 million workers in Pakistan and Bangladesh. Separately, H&M's ongoing Myanmar exit is triggering significant layoffs, with Chinese-owned manufacturer Teng Hui set to permanently close five Yangon factories and displace more than 3,000 garment workers. The Worker Rights Consortium also secured remedies from Fanatics and Guatemalan supplier Hoosier Manufacturing for the unlawful dismissal of 367 workers, including back pay and reinstatement offers. These developments highlight mounting supply chain labor pressures and the growing compliance burden for brands sourcing from high-risk manufacturing regions.
