Intel Could Cut Another 5–10% of Workforce Amid Ongoing Restructuring

Intel may reduce its workforce by an additional 5% to 10%, according to a DigiTimes report citing semiconductor supply-chain sources, which would eliminate roughly 7,760 to 8,230 positions based on the company's most recent headcount of 82,300. The potential cuts would represent a new phase of restructuring separate from Intel's 2025 plan to eliminate 24,000 roles, and come as CEO Lip-Bu Tan continues flattening management layers — reducing organizational tiers from 12 to six. Intel has not formally confirmed the reduction, and no new WARN notices had been filed through August 31. Staffing firms serving the semiconductor and tech sectors should monitor developments closely, as Intel's workforce has already contracted by roughly 42,500 employees over the past two and a half years.
