HCA Healthcare Nurses Report AI Scheduler Timpani Causing Burnout, Errors
NewsData.io · United States · Oct 2, 2026
Nurses across HCA Healthcare, the largest U.S. hospital chain, say Timpani — an AI scheduling tool co-developed with Palantir — is routinely ignoring shift preferences, understaffing units, and driving burnout since its 2023 rollout at roughly 130 facilities. Staff report worsening conditions including back-to-back assignments, red-day violations, and increased call-outs, while HCA maintains that nursing leaders retain final scheduling authority and that Timpani improves efficiency and retention. Rayus Radiology is reportedly experiencing similar complaints after adopting a Palantir-based scheduling tool. Healthcare staffing firms and travel nurse agencies may see downstream demand as HCA nurses report increased frustration and turnover risk.
