GAO: Workforce at Anniston and Red River Army Depots Shrank 18% Over Four Years

A Government Accountability Office report found that the federal workforces at Anniston Army Depot (AL) and Red River Army Depot (TX) declined by a combined 785 employees — roughly 18% — between fiscal years 2021 and 2025. Depot officials told the GAO that the losses, concentrated in skilled trades, are making it harder to retain and replace experienced maintainers. The staffing shortages signal potential demand for specialized workforce solutions targeting defense-sector maintenance and trades roles.
