Compass Asks MLSs to Block Agent Data from Brokerage Recruiting Tools
NewsData.io · United States · Sep 26, 2026
Compass International Holdings has sent a letter to multiple MLSs requesting they exclude Compass listing and agent data from data feeds provided to brokerage recruiting software vendors such as Courted, Brokerkit, and Brokermetrics. The company argues that MLS data shared for transaction cooperation purposes is being repackaged and sold to competitors for agent poaching, which it says falls outside the MLS's core mission. Compass is demanding confirmation of current data-sharing practices, an opt-out mechanism, and implementation within 30 days — threatening damage claims against MLSs that don't comply. The move signals growing tension between large brokerages and recruiting-tech vendors that rely on MLS data to power talent acquisition tools.
