Avamere Senior Care to Lay Off Nearly 130 Staff Amid Facility Transition
NewsData.io · United States · Aug 6, 2026
Tigard-based senior care provider Avamere will lay off approximately 129 employees beginning in September, triggered by an agreement to transfer 26 skilled nursing facilities to Cascadia Healthcare, Ensign, and Sabra Healthcare, plus five assisted living facilities to Arcus Healthcare Partners. The transitions are expected to close October 1 as Avamere pivots away from skilled nursing toward senior housing communities and home-based services. Affected positions appear to be primarily administrative staff. The move signals consolidation activity in the senior care sector that may open placement opportunities for staffing agencies serving healthcare clients in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
