AI-Polished Resumes Now Recruiters' Top Stressor, Employ Survey Finds
HR Dive · United States · Oct 16, 2026
A new Employ survey of more than 1,200 U.S.-based HR recruiters and managers finds that AI-polished resumes have become the top source of recruiter stress for the first time in the study's 19-year history, cited by 33% of respondents. While 68% of recruiters use AI alongside other hiring software and 66% say it has made their jobs easier, only 18% report a meaningful shift from administrative to higher-value work. Recruiter satisfaction with primary recruitment technology has dropped sharply, from 82% in 2025 to 69% today, with 64% saying they are likely to switch platforms in the next two years. For staffing firms, the data signals both a selling opportunity — as clients reassess their tech stacks — and a sourcing challenge, as AI-generated candidate profiles make it harder to identify authentic, qualified talent.
