AI Is Fueling Demand for Finance Talent, Not Replacing It, Toptal Report Finds
NewsData.io · United States · Aug 19, 2026
Toptal's High-skilled Job Report for Q2 2026 shows demand for experienced finance consultants surged 31% quarter over quarter and 39% year over year — the strongest growth of any segment the firm tracks. The report attributes the jump to a rebound in financial sector activity (IPOs, M&A, bank earnings) and to AI adoption itself, as companies need human experts to evaluate AI deployments, assess risks, and validate ROI. A separate Robert Half survey reinforces the trend: 32% of hiring managers who eliminated roles after implementing AI later rehired for the same or similar positions, with the finance sector leading at 44%. Toptal forecasts continued healthy demand into Q3, particularly for compliance and governance expertise.
