With EU AI Act transparency requirements effective August 2, 2026 and the full high-risk regime kicking in December 2027, mid-market firms face particular pressure: they carry the same legal obligations as large enterprises but compete for a talent pool dominated by companies with 5,000+ employees. Experts advise staffing and HR leaders to treat AI governance as an operating model build rather than a pure recruiting exercise, incorporating frameworks like ISO 42001 and scoped external expertise.
