45 Mexican Truck Drivers Accuse US Recruiter and Carriers of Forced-Labor Scheme
NewsData.io · United States · Sep 24, 2026
At least 45 Mexican commercial drivers are alleging that California-based Omega Compliance Solutions LLC recruited them with false promises of U.S. work authorization and employment-based visas, then subjected them to coercive labor practices including passport seizures, unlawful deductions, and deportation threats. A federal lawsuit filed in the Southern District of California names multiple trucking companies as co-defendants, with plaintiffs asserting claims under the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act, RICO, and the Fair Labor Standards Act. The case highlights serious vetting risks for U.S. carriers and staffing firms that rely on third-party recruiters sourcing foreign labor, particularly in cross-border CDL driver placements. Several carrier defendants have moved to dismiss, while South Star Logistics filed a crossclaim against Omega, arguing contractual indemnification if liability is found.
