Mile Hi Foods Settles EEOC Lawsuit for $1.5M Over Discriminatory Hiring Practices
HR Dive · United States · Aug 13, 2026
Denver-based Mile Hi Foods agreed to pay $1.5 million to resolve an EEOC discrimination lawsuit alleging executives systematically refused to hire women, Black, and Afghan applicants for warehouse, driving, and bakery positions based on protected characteristics. The settlement also addresses retaliation against an HR manager who opposed these practices and was subsequently terminated. Under the consent decree, Mile Hi must engage an EEOC-approved consultant to audit compliance practices and revise EEO policies, plus implement mandatory annual Title VII training for all HR, supervisory, and executive staff. The case is a pointed reminder for staffing agencies and employers alike of the legal and financial exposure tied to discriminatory screening or placement practices.
